The kingdom of Hyrule was established by Zelda and the Hero of Sky after the events of Skyward Sword , and its name was chosen in honor of the Goddess Hylia. As Hyrule is threatened by Ganon’s curse of malice in each era, however, Hylia’s failure to defeat The Legend of Zelda ‘s Demise before her mortal reincarnation has essentially doomed her peaceful kingdom to cyclical suffering. In a sense, Hylia serves as both the protector of Hyrule as well as the mechanism behind which its very timeline can be woven and unraveled. As such, Tears of the Kingdom may be a grim but fitting name indicating that Hyrule Open world’s god-princess will mourn the fate of her kingdom upon realizing the true extent of her power’s role throughout its hist
The hieroglyphs also show a bird-like figure surrounded by seven teardrop shaped spirals. Since birds are associated with wisdom, this image could be Hylia shedding tears for the kingdom named after her. However, there’s a theme in Zelda of having seven sages seal away evil. In that case, the Zonai could have been the bird-like creatures seen in the war image, and the summoner of the evil could be shown as being surrounded by the sa
One of the first new abilities that was revealed showed Link passing through the ground on one of Tears of the Kingdom ‘s floating islands . This was first shown in Nintendo ‘s teaser at E3 2021 (now found on YouTube), but has not appeared since. When Link uses it, he floats upwards while surrounded by some kind of green light, and briefly pauses halfway through the ground before popping out of the other side. Immediately before this, a scene showed a drop of water falling to the ground in reverse, though the significance of this is unknown. Strange music also plays for the duration of the clip, and extends into the following
The bard, Kass, may not have been a great warrior helping Link defeat the Divine Beasts and Ganon himself, but Kass has earned his place in BOTW history with his songs recounting the tales of the Hero of Hyrule. Not only did he provide Link with Shrine quests, but he also taught Link, and the player, a good deal of history and lore in moving and meaningful ways. Tears of the Kingdom just wouldn’t feel right without this minstrel’s so
Another of Link’s new abilities in Tears of the Kingdom is something that will allow him to return objects to a previous position. This power also comes from Link’s new arm in the BOTW sequel , and has been shown twice so far. The first time was in the E3 2021 trailer, where Link used it to send a spiked ball back at some enemies, and the second was in the latest Tears of the Kingdom trailer, where he used it to ride a large rock up through the air. Both times, the world turned black-and-white, but everything continued to move around the affected object. This ability looks very similar to BOTW ‘s Stasis and serves a similar function, and it’s possible that it’s a new or advanced form of
There’s no better way to begin a revisit of The Legend of Series than with the first story in its saga, and Skyward Sword’s story and lore present players with plenty to take note of before playing TOTK . Not only are BOTW ’s Goddess statues the very same statues of Hylia that appear in the series’ prequel, but Princess Zelda’s struggle to connect with the Goddess in BOTW may circle back to the lore that was introduced in Skyward Sword . More importantly, TOTK ’s trailers have confirmed a return to the Sky world above Hyrule , so fans of Skyward Sword will likely want to see how this area has changed in the centuries since the Era of
In addition, since the hero in Breath of the Wild ‘s mural telling the story of that battle 10,000 years ago resembles Ganon, it’s possible that he isn’t the threat that emerged then and therefore not the main villain of Tears of the Kingdom if it does take place in that time. Instead, the damaged state of the Master Sword may point to the real antagonist: Demise, the villain of Skyward Sword , who was sealed within the sword, and whose hatred is the source of Ganon’s Malice. In this case, Link, Zelda, and Ganon could all work together to bring down Demise, and Ganon may ultimately become corrupted by his Malice and go on to become Calamity Ganon. Like almost everything else about Breath of the Wild ‘s sequel, it may be pure speculation for now, but Demise returning in Tears of the Kingdom _ could be a great plot twist – one that can bring not only _BOTW but the entire Zelda series full circle – and a way to show Ganon as something other than a vill
Impa has been a steadily returning character throughout much of The Legend of Zelda , although in Breath of the Wild she was 120 years old. She played an essential role in BOTW by assisting Link in recovering his lost memories and telling him the story of Ganon. Over the years, she has been an important character as a bodyguard to Princess Zelda and even fought valiantly alongside Link in the events of Hyrule Warriors . If Purah’s research could be used on Impa, she could in fact prove to be a very powerful character in Tears of the Kingd
