The biggest mystery, however, is the true identity of Breath of the Wild ‘s Zonai , an ancient tribe of magic wielders. Structures such as the three labyrinths and the Faron region’s stonework were created by the Zonai, easily identifiable by their Aztec-like designs prominently featuring dragon heads. Crucially, the Tears of the Kingdom logo also features these dragon designs, fueling speculation that more Zonai history will be explored in the game. Perhaps an underground Zonai ruin will form a dungeon, or a sprawling network of tunnels. A fantastic location for a Zonai-inspired dungeon would be beneath Lake Hylia, given its proximity to the Zonai ruins of the Faron reg
Link and Zelda are obvious must-haves that possibly do not even deserve a spot on the list. Not only are Link and Zelda both shown in the trailers for Tears of the Kingdom , but they are also the main characters in the series. However, it is still quite possible that their roles could see some changes from the norm in this new story. Mainly because Zelda won’t actually be a princess this time around, and it will be interesting to see if Nintendo leans into that change in Hyrule’s leadership and what ripple effects that could cre
Prince Sidon is the prince of Zora, the son of King Dorephan, and Mipha’s brother. He not only assisted Link in taking down a Divine Beast that was threatening Zora’s Domain in BOTW , but also was a good friend to the Hylian hero and shared an emotional bond, in part because of Mipha. Sidon heavily grieves his sister’s death and can be caught speaking to her statue, wishing she were there. The quests surrounding the Zora in BOTW focus heavily on her, and Link’s adventure log reveals his feelings for Mipha , though fans had to sift through the Japanese version to get the bigger picture of this. Contemplating the events that may happen in Tears of the Kingdom it is easy to assume that Prince (or perhaps even King by this time) Sidon will join Link for at least a portion of the trials which he will face in this next chap
The most obvious recurring location in Tears of the Kingdom is Hyrule Castle itself. Hyrule Castle has been prominently featured in trailers for the sequel, floating above Hyrule Field. In many Zelda musical instruments games including Breath of the Wild , a corrupted Hyrule Castle has served as the final dungeon. This floating fortress of Malice looks set to be Tears of the Kingdom ’s own final dungeon, with Link and Zelda perhaps storming the castle after breaking a seal similar to Ocarina of Time . It remains to be seen, however, if Hyrule Castle Town has been rebuilt since the events of the previous game, now living in the floating castle’s sha
The new Tears of the Kingdom trailer came with other things besides hints of time travel; a mechanical mount that Link will fly through the air, a mysterious glowing mural on a mountaintop, and smaller details like strange capsules on his belt and footage of him climbing roots. All of it is far from confirmation of time travel, but it does pose interesting questions. The idea of traveling back to Hyrule 10,000 years ago is an exciting one, and could make Breath of the Wild ‘s sequel even more fun than it already appeared to be. If the theory is true, then hopefully the time travel aspects are implemented well and don’t overly complicate the story so that BOTW 2 ‘s gameplay and improved exploration aspects can shine just like they did in the original Breath of the Wi
Treasure Octoroks may be BOTW ‘s most annoying enemy, and for good reason. If players aren’t careful when approaching a buried chest, then they might end up fighting an enemy instead of getting treasure. This is irksome enough by itself, but the initial attack by the Octorok also sends them flying backwards, which is severely annoying and can even spell doom if they’re near a high ledge, leaving BOTW players regretting their decision to not do a quick check with the Magnesis rune. In addition, the Treasure Octorok is very fast and hard to hit, making it not a challenging foe but certainly a difficult and obnoxious one. They might not be as bad if they were at least good way to farm Rupees, but the amount they drop is negligible and not worth the effort of seeking them out repeate
Purah was certainly wise beyond her perceived years in BOTW . This is, of course, because she was not actually a child but rather 124 years old. However, Purah and Impa could change BOTW 2 through Purah’s researched anti-aging abilities. Despite her being a child in BOTW , she is actually Impa’s older sister and a scientist – director of the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab where she studies Sheikah technology. Her aging experiments did not become a major focus in BOTW , but should Nintendo choose to, her research could yet be an important plot point in Tears of the Kingd
If time travel is present in Tears of the Kingdom in some form, it carries a few implications. The first is that its version of Hyrule would be very different from BOTW . That much was already known, but if Link is getting sent back to the past, and especially if it’s as far back as the first rise of Calamity Ganon, then it could be practically unrecognizable, and have an all-new cast of characters either unrelated to those in BOTW or with only distant relations. It could also mean that players will see Ganon’s intitial rise first-hand, in addition to other events such as the construction of the Guardians and Divine Beasts, which BOTW ‘s sequel could use in unexpected ways if
