While the system itself will be familiar to those that played the previous game, the sense of your actions having consequences has interesting ripple effects thanks to the ways that your decisions reverberate throughout the rest of Red Dead Redemption 2 's world. In one part of the story after completing a heist, as I ventured into the town of Valentine as Arthur and interacted with various NPCs, some of them would ask if I heard about „the robbery just outside of town,” and whispered about the fact that there were quite a few casualties as a result.
That was just one of the few examples where the game’s setting really honed in on the idea of Red Dead Redemption 2 delivering a world that looks and feels dynamic, and yet there were still plenty of other moments that genuinely had me surprised at the depth of interaction that it offers. Random encounters on the road in particular always feel like they offer some new interesting twist or story moment to remember, like when I helped a man wrangle in his horse and lassoed it back to him, or intervening as a woman was about to about to be attacked by a pack of wolves.
As one of the most anticipated game releases of the fall — if not the most anticipated — Red Dead Redemption 2 has come a long way from when we first heard that Rockstar Games would be returning to the epic Western world it crafted with the previous game in 2010. From what we’ve seen so far of the game, Red Dead Redemption 2 's depiction of the Wild West will look even more detailed and expertly crafted in the eight years since we last saw it, and the unique beauty of its setting will (seemingly) come to life like never before.
With that being said, reports have surfaced claiming that Read Dead Redemption 2 will show off the power of the heavily touted Xbox One X–Microsoft’s powerhouse luxury console. Rumor has it, the game will run at 4K and 60FPS on the upcoming console. However, we still do not know how Red Dead 2 will look on Sony’s high-end unit, the PlayStation 4
Red Dead Redemption is simply one of the best games available for the seventh generation consoles. It did receive a zombie-themed expansion pack called Undead Nightmare, which was a fun novelty but didn’t resonate the same way the base game did. The Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Bigfoot reference was rather humorous, though. It clearly uses the Grand Theft Auto games as a template but ends up finding its own identity through the setting, characters and storytelling. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018, and with the quality of its predecessor, it has big boots to fill.
The Western genre is vast and expansive, and surely there are plenty of other deserving picks that we could go into further detail on. However, the five films we picked below were curated to give a variety of the Western film genre across the past several decades, while also incorporating some significant thematic or aesthetic ties that (likely) may appear in Red Dead Redemption 2 .
Red Dead Redemption was a blast, with numerous side quests, activities and just a big open sandbox world to play in. Great game mechanics and design made it fun, a great story is what made it memorable. The pacing of the story doesn’t ever hit any major lulls and the character of Marshton is sympathetic enough you end up rooting for him, since after all he’s a good guy who just wants to be back with his family. And in trying to get back with his family he ends up being jerked around by the government. After jumping through endless hoops from the government they betray him. The ending of red Dead redemption 2 Epilogue Dead Redemption is one of the sadder endings in a video game. The true ending occurs in 1914, and while there is a shot at setting things right, it ultimately feels hollow and unsatisfying. This sounds like a knock against the game, but in reality it is a testament to how powerful the narrative of Red Dead Redemption actually was.
2014 got a pass because not a lot of original content for PS4 and Xbox One was being released until the final quarter of the year. 2015 is different, because now we’re starting to see development for these new platforms ramp up. There’s no need to see teams waste their time to bring games only a few years old to these new consoles. Already we have DmC: Devil May Cry Definitive Edition, Devil Mary Cry 4: Special Edition, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster among others. Now there are some exceptions for games that were only released on one platform (Resident Evil Remake HD), or games you can’t get anymore because they’re so old (Grim Fandago: Remastered). Other than these few exceptions, enough is enough!
